Recorded during the late 80's and early 1990s, as the former Czechoslovakia struggled to rebuild after decades of Soviet rule, Moriorr's two demos stand as remarkable documents of a newly liberated metal underground. While black metal was simultaneously taking shape across Europe, Moriorr forged a sound that was unmistakably Czech—dark, moody, and unconcerned (or completely oblivious) with the trends emerging from Scandinavia.

Like contemporaries such as Torr, Master's Hammer, Root, Dai, and Tudor, Moriorr embraced an eccentric approach to extreme metal, blending black metal with traditional heavy metal riffs, unconventional song structures, and an atmosphere rooted in the unique cultural landscape of Eastern Europe. The result was a sound that could only have emerged from the Czech underground during this transformative period.

Long overshadowed by the country's better-known acts, these two demos capture Moriorr at their creative peak and reveal another essential piece of one of black metal's most distinctive regional scenes. Raw yet ambitious, they remain compelling examples of the singular vision that defined the early Czech underground.

That sound has long since disappeared, lost to time and dust. NWN is doing its part to preserve this forgotten era by unearthing these relics of the past and making them available once again.
